Four people charged in connection with modern slavery probe in Hoddesdon

Four people have been charged and remanded in custody in connection with a modern slavery investigation in Hoddesdon.

As a result of information and intelligence received by police, an investigation was launched into human trafficking and modern slavery by the East Criminal Investigation Department (CID) led by Senior Investigation Officer DI Maxine Matthews.

The people charged are:

• Tobiaz Dolinski, aged 26 and of Spring Gardens, Romford, was charged and remanded with human trafficking and slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour offences
• Nadia Zverovic, aged 31 and of Murchison Road, Hoddesdon was arrested and subsequently charged and remanded with human trafficking, slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour and fraud by false representation offences
• Damian Paczkowski, aged 33, of Murchison Road, Hoddesdon was charged and remanded with human trafficking, fraud by false representation, slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour
• Armani Paczkowski, aged 20, and of Queensdale Crescent, London was charged with human trafficking, and money laundering

All suspects will appear at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday 25 August

Police were contacted on 23 July to report a concern for welfare of a man at an address on Murchison Road.

Officers attended the address, and a scene was placed while detectives carried out a number of enquiries.

Detective Inspector Maxine Matthews said: "Firstly I would like to thank the member of the public who raised a concern for welfare, and I want to reassure the public that our main priority is to ensure any victims are safeguarded.

“Hertfordshire Constabulary takes reports of modern slavery extremely seriously and our main priority is to support those affected by it. This remains an active enquiry, and we would encourage anyone with information to come forward. We have specialist officers who will treat your reports sensitively and provide appropriate support.

"We are committed to protecting vulnerable people in our community and ensuring those who exploit others are held accountable.”
