Man from Milton Keynes jailed for rape
Evans Nyarko sentenced to eight years in prison
A man from Milton Keynes has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being found guilty of rape.
Aylesbury Crown Court delivered the sentence to 45 year old Evans Nyarko following a unanimous guilty verdict by a jury after a six-day trial.
The trial concluded Nyarko had raped a woman in her fifties in the Conniburrow area of Milton Keynes on 12th August 2024.
The court heard how Nyarko had offered to help the woman, who had been enjoying a night out, get home safely by taxi.
However, upon arriving at her home, the victim began feeling unwell.
Nyarko assisted her into the property, where he went on to commit the offence.
Despite denying the crime, he was arrested and charged on 28th August 2024 after the victim reported the incident to Thames Valley Police.
Detective Constable Lyndsay Gofton of Thames Valley Police commented: "This was a terrible abuse of trust by Nyarko, who took advantage of a woman who was vulnerable after a night out and relied on him to help her get home safely."
Thames Valley Police encourages anyone who has been the victim of a sexual offence to report it by calling 101 or making a report online.
