A known drug dealer has been given a life sentence for the murder of a man in Luton.
Abul Kasim, aged twenty-six, stabbed 63-year-old Martin Sullivan at his home on Highbury Road in January, after being asked to leave.
Kasim, a known drug dealer, had been using Martin’s home as a base for his criminal activity. On the night of the attack, Kasim demanded to stay, but when Martin refused and asked him to leave, Kasim turned violent. He launched a vicious knife attack before fleeing the scene, leaving Martin critically injured.
During a forensic search of the address, a bottle of juice was found on the arm of the sofa in the living room, which was recovered and examined for forensic evidence. Fingerprints were lifted from the side of the bottle and were subsequently identified as belonging to Kasim.
Further fingerprint analysis was conducted on the rear door frame of the property. Several prints were obtained, and some of these were also matched to Kasim, further placing him at the scene.
Kasim must serve a minimum of twenty years before he can be considered for parole.
