Man jailed for 15 years after Aylesbury burglary
Victims injured in violent attack
A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following a violent burglary in Aylesbury.
Glen Johnson, a 49-year-old of no fixed abode, carried out the aggravated burglary at a property on Beaufort Close, Aylesbury, in the early hours of 30th April 2025.
The attack involved a group of 6 to 7 offenders who forced entry through the front door and rear patio doors.
Once inside, the offenders rounded up the seven occupants and demanded cryptocurrency.
When they could not comply, the victims were subjected to violence.
Those injured included a 51-year-old man, a 75-year-old woman, a 59-year-old woman, two men aged 28 and 25, and two women aged 21.
Injuries ranged from bruising and swelling to their faces and body, swollen eyes, and neck and head injuries.
One person suffered a fractured spine.
Thames Valley Police responded following a 999 call and detained Johnson at the scene, charging him on 1st May 2025.
The prosecution revealed that tracking devices and signal jammers had been used, demonstrating the sophisticated planning behind the crime.
Johnson was found guilty by a unanimous jury at Aylesbury Crown Court following a five-day trial.
The verdict was returned on 6th March 2026.
Detective Constable Chris Clarke from the Buckinghamshire Priority Crime Team commented on the conviction.
"This was a serious and frightening offence that had a lasting impact on the victims," Clarke said.
"Johnson was part of a group that targeted a family home in the middle of the night, using violence and intimidation in an attempt to obtain cryptocurrency."
"The injuries caused were significant, both physically and emotionally, and one victim suffered a fractured spine as a result of the attack."
Clarke continued, "The robust 15-year sentence handed down by the court reflects the severity of Johnson’s actions and sends a clear message that this kind of violent criminality will not be tolerated."
"Our thoughts remain with the victims, and we hope this outcome delivers a measure of justice for them."
