A man has denied murdering a six-month-old boy, a court heard.

Police were called to reports of concern for the welfare of a baby at an address in Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire, on February 9 last year.

The child, Archie Woodbridge, was taken to hospital where he died shortly after.

Kieran Humphreys, 33, was charged with one count of murder, one count of child cruelty and one count of conspiring to pervert the course of justice over the death.

The defendant, of Bromley Gardens, Houghton Regis, appeared via video link during a hearing at Luton Crown Court on Friday, where he pleaded not guilty to all three counts.

Judge Michael Simon told the court the case would go for trial in front of a High Court judge, and set the trial date for October 6.
