Man convicted for coercive and controlling behaviour

A woman, who was sexually assaulted and coercively controlled, has helped secure a conviction.
After her report and evidence, Costas Jordanou, 34, of Bluecoat Court, Hertford, was found guilty of sexual assault by penetration, coercive and controlling behaviour and assault by beating, after a trial at St Albans Crown Court on 2 July.
The victim reported these offences to police and, after an investigation by the Sexual Offences Investigation Team (SOIT), he was charged and remanded on 19 December 2025.
Detective Constable Jason Tinsey, from SOIT, said: “It took great courage for the victim to come forward and report the abuse she sustained at the hands of Jordanou and I’m pleased we’ve been able to secure this conviction.
“We take reports of this nature very seriously. If anyone has experienced sexual assault or abuse, you will always be believed and we will do all we can to support you.”
Costas Jordanou will be sentenced on Friday 21 August.
