Man charged in connection with fatal stabbing in Bletchley

A man has been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Bletchley.

Shaquill Selyer, aged 27, of Frensham Drive, Bletchley, has been charged with one count each of murder, possession of an offensive weapon and perverting the course of justice.

The charges are in relation to the fatal stabbing of Mohammed Tanveerul Islam, aged 26, in Brooklands Road on Thursday night (30/7).

He died from a stab wound to the chest.

Selyer was arrested on Tuesday (4/8).

He has been remanded to appear at Milton Keynes Magistrates Court, today (7/8).

Detective Superintendent Andrew Alexander, of the Milton Keynes Local Command Unit, said: “I understand the concern that this tragic incident has caused in Bletchley and across Milton Keynes, particularly within our local communities.

“Our neighbourhood officers will be in the local area over the coming days and will remain in contact with community representatives and local partners. If you have any concerns, please speak with a uniformed officer.”

Detective Superintendent Kevin Brown, the Head of the Major Crime Unit, said: “As a man has now been charged, I’d like to remind the public that criminal proceedings are active.

“I ask for people to please not speculate online or share information which could prejudice the criminal proceedings.

“However, if anyone does have information that may be of use to the investigation, we would like to hear from you, please report it directly to us, by calling 101, visiting our website or attending their nearest police station.”
