Man charged with attempted murder after stabbing in Bishop’s Stortford
A man is in hospital with stab wounds to his chest.
Detectives investigating a stabbing in Bishop’s Stortford have arrested and charged a man with attempted murder.
Lal Miah, aged 44, of Stansted Road, Bishop’s Stortford, was charged yesterday (Tuesday 8 July) and remanded into custody.
It was alleged that an altercation had occurred between two men at a residential address in Stansted Road at around 11am on Sunday (6 July).
A man aged in his 40s sustained injuries to the chest, believed to be stab wounds, and made his way to hospital before police were informed.
He remains in a stable condition in hospital and enquiries are ongoing at this time.
Detective Inspector Mike Doe who is leading the investigation said: “I understand that news of this incident will cause concern among the local community.
"We believe this to be an isolated incident, involving parties who are known to each other and have worked quickly to secure an arrest and charge."
