Man charged with attempted murder after Hertford collision

A man has been charged and remanded, in connection with a collision in Hertford, as officers continue to appeal for witnesses.

Shortly after 3.30am on Saturday 16 May, a pedestrian was involved in a collision with a white Volkswagen Golf on Ware Road.

The pedestrian, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital after sustaining two leg fractures.

David Chiriac, 18, of Duck Lees Lane in Enfield, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and driving a motor vehicle dangerously.

He was remanded in custody at St Albans Crown Court today (Tuesday 2 June), ahead of his next appearance at the same court on Tuesday 30 June. No pleas have been entered at this stage.

Detective Constable Jordan Critchley, from East Herts CID, said: “Despite securing a successful charging decision, we are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.
