Man accused of mounting pavement and killing pedestrian appears in court
Shakaine Dwyer faces murder and dangerous driving charges over the death of Peterborough man, Ruben Nunes, in north-west London
A driver has appeared at the Old Bailey accused of mounting a pavement and killing a pedestrian.
Shakaine Dwyer, 29, allegedly struck Ruben Nunes, 34, during an incident in Willesden, north-west London, last December 3.
Police were called to Chapel Close following reports of a collision between a car and pedestrians.
Mr Nunes died from his injuries at the scene and an investigation was launched, with Dwyer being arrested the next day.
Dwyer, of Willesden, was initially charged with causing the death of Mr Nunes by dangerous driving.
Last month, he was also charged with the murder of Mr Nunes, from Peterborough.
On Wednesday, Dwyer appeared at the Old Bailey by videolink from Belmarsh prison and spoke to confirm his identity.
Judge Mark Dennis KC formally joined the two charges against him and set a timetable for the case.
A plea hearing was set for April 10 and a provisional trial from September 21.
Dwyer was remanded into custody before a further case management hearing on February 5.
A second defendant, Gregory Ejiofor, 31, of Milton Keynes, has been charged with separate offences linked to the incident.
He was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Ejiofor, who is in custody, is also due to appear at the Old Bailey on February 5.
