Luton Town manager prepares for Soccer Aid 2026
Jack Wilshire says he's been doing some training with the Luton squad
Luton Town manager Jack Wilshire has been joining in with some training sessions with the Hatters squad to help prepare for Soccer Aid.
The former England midfield has appeared is set to make his fourth appearance in the charity match against the World XI.
The event itself is now in its 20th year since being launched in 2006 and has raised more than £120 million for UNICEF.
Jack Wilshire says he misses the feeling of playing in front of a big crowd, saying: “You can't beat the feeling of going out, running out on a full stadium, playing a game of football”.
Adding: “The first time I started to miss it was four years ago when I played my first Soccer Aid match.
“We played at Old Trafford and you walk out, the stadium's full, and then you do miss that. So yeah, when I go out on Sunday, and get that feeling, I do miss it a bit."
Wilshire also said he’s been doing “a little bit” of training with the Luton squad ahead of the match.
“Not the bigger sessions because yeah they're too fit and too fast for me now, but smaller little sessions like rondos, passing drills and stuff I'll get involved a little bit.”
“I'm happy with where I'm at going into the game, but there'll definitely be a few more players that have done more training than me”, he adds.
We asked the Luton manager is there’s a chance we could see him playing next season for the club, if he scores a hat-trick during Soccer Aid.
Wilshire said: “I don't think there's any chance of me scoring a hat-trick.
“I've joined in a little bit throughout the season, and a 15 minute session is completely different to 90 minutes, so I'll be staying away from that.”
