Two brothers who stabbed a man nine times in Luton have been sentenced to a combined total of six-and-a-half years in prison.

Ali Hussain, 23, of Homedale Drive, Luton, was sentenced to three years at Huntingdon Crown Court on Friday, 19th December, for grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

Mohamed Hussain, 27, of Sutcliffe Street, Greater Manchester, was handed a three-and-a-half-year sentence for the same offences.

The incident occurred on 3rd August this year, when the Hussain brothers were reportedly loitering in an alleyway behind Morgan Close in Luton.

They noticed the victim walking to his car and proceeded to chase him while armed with a large knife.

The victim was stabbed nine times and taken to hospital with injuries initially described as life-threatening, though he has since recovered.

A bystander driving past intervened in the attack, reversing their car towards the attackers in an effort to stop the assault.

The intervention injured one of the brothers, who, along with his sibling, fled the scene before being arrested later that afternoon.

Blood-stained clothing and a broken knife blade were found and linked to the suspects during the investigation.

Detective Constable Rahima Khan commented on the incident, saying, “This was a shocking and brutal attack that could easily have cost a man his life.

"Thanks to the courage of a member of the public and the swift actions of our officers, we were able to bring these dangerous individuals to justice.

"Violence like this has no place in our communities, and we will continue to do everything in our power to protect the public.”
