Ninth teenager charged with murder of 17-year-old in Luton
A boy of 17 has appeared in court and been remanded into custody in connection with Bilal Nisar's murder
A ninth teenager has been charged in connection with the murder of Bilal Nisar in Luton.
A 17-year-old boy was charged on Saturday 29th August with murder, violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon.
He appeared at Luton Crown Court today and was remanded into custody.
What happened
Police were called to Kingsway Recreation Ground in Luton at around 6.30pm on Friday 24th July, following reports of violent disorder.
Bilal, who was 17, was taken to hospital with stab wounds but died a short time later.
A trial date has been set for 12th January 2027 at Luton Crown Court.
Police response
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardner, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: "First and foremost, our thoughts remain with Bilal's family at this incredibly difficult time.
"Our investigation continues to progress and, as a result, nine individuals have now been charged and remanded in connection with this incident."
Family Tribute
In July, Bilal's family expressed their sorrow and appreciation, stating: "Bilal was an amazing brother, son, uncle, and friend to us all. His kindness, sense of humour and unwavering loyalty were qualities that would light up any room he walked into."
They further added: "He had a bright future ahead of him, but we cherish the memories he has left us with. May Allah SWT grant him Jannatul Firdous. Ameen. Indeed, to Allah we belong and indeed, to Him we shall return."
