Man charged and another arrested after kidnap in Waltham Abbey
The victim was forced into a car and reportedly beaten and cut
Hertfordshire Police are appealing information as they continue to investigate a kidnapping in Waltham Abbey.
The incident happened around 10:30 am on 9th April in the Lea Road area.
The victim had arranged to meet a stranger to discuss selling some expensive items but was forced into a black Nissan Juke and driven around for several hours.
He was later released after being reportedly beaten and cut. He suffered cuts and bruises on his face.
22 year old Zackquarn Ansell Mason, from Stanstead Abbotts, is facing charges of kidnap and blackmail and is out on conditional bail until his next court date on 12th May.
Another 22-year-old man from London was arrested too but released on bail as the investigation continues.
Detective Constable Alex Fairley from Hertfordshire Constabulary’s East CID is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward:
"I am appealing for further witnesses and information in relation to this incident, as our enquiries remain ongoing. Any information from the public could be vital to the investigation.
“Anyone with information that could assist our investigation is asked to contact us via the non‑emergency number 101, quoting Operation Quinidine.”
