Stroke survivors in Hertfordshire are to benefit from a new innovative vocational rehabilitation, offered by Neuro teams at Central London Community Healthcare NHS (CLCH).

The service is being led by Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT), with CLCH's Neuro team in Hertfordshire working collaboratively with Herts and West Essex ICB, Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT), and Hertfordshire Community Trust (HCT), following a successful funded pilot.

It'll see enhanced support for rehabilitation for stroke survivors in the county, including an Occupational Therapist, a Speech and Language Therapist, and a Clinical Psychologist, as well as a peer support group.

The hope for the new service is to fill a gap in stroke community care throughout the county, providing tailored rehabilitation to help patients "rebuild their lives, regain confidence, and transition back to work while supporting both their physical and emotional recovery."

In the UK, over a third of the 1.3 million annual strokes affect working-age adults, yet only 44% of survivors return to work.
