Train services between Broxbourne and Hertford East are going to be suspended across Christmas, after flooding caused by a burst water main at Rye House.

Services are not expected to resume until Wednesday 24th December.

A limited replacement bus service is operating in the affected area.

However, passengers are being advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary and to seek alternative travel arrangements where possible.

Greater Anglia has confirmed tickets will be valid for travel on Great Northern services between Moorgate and Hertford North, which is approximately 20 minutes away on foot from Hertford East station.

Travelers can also use other West Anglia main line stations or local bus services depending on their journey.

The disruption has had a significant impact on rail infrastructure at Rye House station, including track and signalling systems.

Repairs are expected to take five days, factoring in the time needed to halt the flooding, clean up the affected area and fix the damage.

Updates on progress and service restoration will be provided as repair teams continue their work.
