Hemel Hempstead police crack down on drug crime in Highfield
Officers conduct patrols and searches to gather intelligence
The Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) in Hemel Hempstead is actively working to address drug-related crime in Highfield, following reports from residents about suspected drug supply and use in the area.
Last week, officers carried out targeted patrols and enforcement activities during evening shifts, which led to significant developments.
With assistance from the Special Constabulary and Operational Support Group, they succeeded in recovering cannabis and Class A drugs.
Throughout the four shifts, the proactive measures resulted in:
- Engaging with 17 people
- Conducting seven stop searches
- Stopping eight vehicles
- Gathering valuable intelligence
- Issuing two Community Resolutions for minor offences
PC Holly Justice emphasised the commitment of the policing team to combating drug-related activities and addressing community concerns.
She said: “We understand the concerns that drug-related activity and associated criminality can cause within our communities and are committed to taking action where issues are identified.
“By carrying out targeted patrols, stop searches and engagement with local people, we disrupted criminal activity and gathered valuable intelligence. This work will continue.”
The officer reassures residents that the police are attentive to concerns and encourages anyone with information on suspected drug activities to reach out.
PC Justice added: “We would continue to encourage anyone who has information about suspected drug dealing or drug use in their area to contact us. Every call helps us to build up the evidence we need to take action.”
The ongoing efforts are part of a broader strategy to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
