A former Metropolitan Police officer from Hemel Hempstead has been found guilty of raping two women.

Jake Cummings, aged 26, from Hemel Hempstead, sat in the dock this month for the second time, after a jury at a first trial could not reach a verdict.

He previously admitting two charges of stalking and was found guilty, during the first trial in September, of a third which he had denied, along with offences of controlling and coercive behaviour and voyeurism.

In the last week a jury at St Albans Crown Court heard of a similar pattern of behaviour Cummings displayed towards both victims.

The prosecution said he would first 'love-bomb' them with strong affection, which would initially be reciprocated, before becoming controlling.

He would call them derogatory names, isolate them from their friends and family, and control them.

The relationships continued to deteriorate until both incidents, described by the victims as non-consensual sexual acts.

He offered lingerie to one in a gift exchange around Christmas time, insisted she try it on for him. Despite resistance, Cummings insisted until the victim put on the underwear.

The prosecution said the defendant insinuate he wanted to have sex, again met with resistance from the victim, until she eventually gave in.

She described feeling used and violated as a result of the act.

The defence argued she had agreed to the act before it even started.

In relation to the second victim, the victim described being in Cummings' bedroom, helping him make the bed, before both ended up on the bed.

Shortly before, the two were said to have established their relationship would be of a 'friends with benefits' nature.

The victim however described repeatedly asking him to stop while Cummings attempted to take her cardigan and top off, and unzip her trousers, until he was successful.

The victim mentioned their difference in her attempts at pushing him off her.

In the days following the event, Cummings messaged the victim asking her if the act had been consensual.

The victim added: "He wanted me to confirm if it was consensual because he was worried about it."

The defence again rejected the claims, arguing that they had agreed to "no strings" and that what happened between him and the two women "does not involve them saying no".

Cummings is said to have used his profession, at the time serving as an officer for the Metropolitan Police, to his advantage.

He was today unanimously found guilty of a second rape, after being found guilty by all members of the jury of a first rape yesterday.

He will be sentenced at the same court on September 22 for the two crimes, along with offences he either admitted or was found guilty of in a first trial last September.
