Former Hertfordshire officer sentenced for controlling/coercive behaviour
He appeared at Huntingdon Crown Court on Monday 22 September.
A former Hertfordshire Constabulary police constable was sentenced in court earlier this week.
Chris Featherstone, aged 55 and from Royston, appeared at Huntingdon Crown Court on Monday 22 September having previously denied engaging in controlling/coercive behaviour between 2015-2021.
He was found guilty following a week-long trial and sentenced to nine months in prison, suspended for 18 months. Featherstone will be required to undertake 120 hours’ unpaid work and an 18-month rehabilitation requirement. He was also handed a five-year restraining order against the victim.
Featherstone remains under investigation for gross misconduct.
Deputy Chief Constable Andy Mariner said: “Officers and staff who fail to adhere to our policing standards and, in this case, commit criminal offences damage the public’s confidence in what we do.
“People like Featherstone do not represent our values, and his actions make our job of catching criminals and protecting victims much harder.”
