Police search for driver convicted of killing child in crash in Milton Keynes
Emmanuel Sakyi failed to appear in court
Thames Valley Police are searching for a man who failed to appear in court to receive a 15 year prison sentence for causing death by dangerous driving.
31 year old Emmanuel Sakyi from Milton Keynes failed to appear for his trial at Aylesbury Crown Court, where he was found guilty.
The crash happened on 4th December 2022. Sakyi's grey Peugeot hit a Fiat head-on when he drove on the wrong side of the road between two roundabouts in Milton Keynes.
At the time, Sakyi was found to be over two and a half times the drink-drive limit.
Sakyi's daughter, Emmanuela, aged seven months, died from injuries sustained in the collision because she was not properly secured in her seat.
Sakyi fled the scene on foot and was later arrested at his home.
The jury unanimously found Sakyi guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
Sakyi is described as a black man, medium build, with black hair, brown eyes, and approximately 5ft 3ins tall.
Detective Sergeant Ed Crofts from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:
“Enquiries have been ongoing to locate Emmanuel Sakyi, and we are now appealing for the public’s help in locating him.
This is a devastating case where a child’s life has been lost. Our enquiries are focussed on ensuring Sakyi faces the consequences of his actions.”
