Cuffley man jailed for manslaughter of 24-year-old
Kieran Roche sentenced for fatal stabbing of Robert Tyler-Jones
A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to prison for the manslaughter of 24-year-old Robert Tyler-Jones following a fatal stabbing in Cuffley earlier this year.
Kieran Roche appeared at St Albans Crown Court on 18th December 2025 and was sentenced to three years and seven months for his role in the incident that claimed the life of Mr Tyler-Jones.
The case relates to an altercation that occurred on 23rd April 2025 at Roche’s home on Station Road, Cuffley, during which the victim was fatally stabbed. Mr Tyler-Jones, who was from Northaw, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Roche was arrested the following day by detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire (BCH) Major Crime Unit.
Detective Sergeant Steve Boddy, who led the investigation, expressed hope that the sentencing would help provide some justice for the victim’s family.
“I hope today’s result brings some sense of justice for Robert’s family and reassures the public that those who use a knife will face consequences. I would also like to thank my officers who worked hard on this case to ensure that Roche will face time in prison for his actions,” DS Boddy said.
Welwyn Hatfield Chief Inspector Pete Frost also shared condolences with Robert’s family, saying, “Knife crime has no place here and I urge anybody who has concerns about somebody carrying a knife to please get in touch. We appreciate that it can be a daunting thing to do but you can also speak anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers who are independent from the police.”
In a moving tribute, Robert’s family described the impact of their loss:
“The loss of Robert has absolutely devastated our lives in ways that words can never fully express. Life will never be the same for any of us, we have lost a beloved son, brother and much loved partner.
"No amount of time or justice can ever make up for the love, future, and memories taken from us.
"We will spend every single day for the rest of our lives honouring Robert, speaking his name, and ensuring that he is never forgotten.”
