An appeal for witnesses and information has been launched after a child was hit by a ball-bearing in Chalfont St Peter.

They suffered minor injuries in the assault last Thursday lunch time, around 1:45pm at the recreation ground on Cordons Close.

It's believed the ball-bearing was slung from a catapult.

Thames Valley Police say it's believed the suspects are four teenage boys, one was believed to have been seen wearing a blue tracksuit.

Neighbourhood Inspector James Ellis said: “Thankfully, the victim of this assault only sustained minor injuries, however firing ball-bearings can be extremely dangerous.

“When intended or used in such a manner, a catapult will be regarded as an offensive weapon, and those found in possession can expect a robust policing response.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to this incident to please come forward.

“If you have any information, footage or you believe you witnessed this incident, please speak to officers, or contact us online or via 101, quoting reference 43250086053.

“If you don’t wish to speak directly with police, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
