Police launch investigation after man with samurai sword threatens shoppers in Milton Keynes
A man was reportedly carrying a samurai sword and threatening members of the public
Thames Valley Police have released CCTV images as part of their investigation into a man seen with a samurai sword in Milton Keynes.
The incident happened at around 9.15pm on 30th July on North Ninth Street, near Centre MK.
A man was reportedly carrying a samurai sword and threatening members of the public.
People then intervened and managed to restrain him.
A 49-year-old man then sustained injuries, including a cut to his hand and three cracked ribs.
He needed hospital treatment, but has since been discharged.
The suspect is described as a white man, with the samurai sword concealed in his waistband.
Investigating officer PC Jordan Buchanan-Kay, of the Central Milton Keynes Neighbourhood Policing Team, confirmed the investigation was ongoing:
“We are carrying out a thorough investigation to identify the man responsible for this incident, which understandably caused concern within the local community.”
“We are treating this investigation as a priority and there will continue to be an increased police presence in the area while enquiries are ongoing.”
PC Buchanan-Kay also appealed for information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or recognises the man in the CCTV images.
“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the North Ninth Street area around the time of the incident and who may have information about the suspect or his movements before or after the offence.”
