Dequarn Williams jailed for life over fatal Bushey stabbing
26-year-old sentenced to at least 20 years for murder of Jeyanthan Ramachanthran
Dequarn Williams, 26, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 20 years at St Albans Crown Court following his conviction for the murder of Jeyanthan Ramachanthran in Bushey.
The tragic incident occurred outside the Vu Lounge in Bushey on the evening of Saturday, 29th November 2025.
Emergency services arrived at the scene after reports of a stabbing and found 32-year-old Jeyanthan with severe injuries.
Though rushed to hospital for treatment, he sadly died a short time later.
Investigation and Conviction
A murder investigation was launched by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, culminating in today’s sentencing.
Williams, of Sancroft Close in north-west London, received a life term following the court's ruling.
Family Grief
Jeyanthan’s wife, Thinuba, expressed her overwhelming grief in a victim impact statement, describing him as a wonderful person with a generous spirit.
"There are no words that I can say that will truly capture the depth of what has been so cruelly stolen from me,” she said.
Thinuba articulated the profound loss felt by their family, highlighting Jeyanthan's kindness, strength, and the void his absence leaves behind.
"No verdict or sentence can ever bring Jeyanthan back to me or undo the damage," she added.
Police Statement
Detective Inspector Lee Martin emphasised the gravity of Williams's actions, stating, "Violent behaviour of this nature has no place in our community and today’s sentence reflects the seriousness of his actions."
Although acknowledging that no prison term can reverse the harm caused, the inspector noted that Williams will spend a significant period behind bars as a result of his choices.
