A Buckinghamshire resident has been convicted of multiple terrorism offences associated with the proscribed organisation Daesh, following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE).

Abdullah Yousef, 24, of Galapagos Grove, Bletchley, Milton Keynes, was found guilty by a unanimous jury at Birmingham Crown Court. The trial, which lasted two weeks, concluded today.

Yousef faced several charges, including membership of the banned terrorist group, collecting information useful for terrorism, and the dissemination of terrorist publications.

During the trial, it was revealed that Yousef had a keen interest in extreme Islamist content, particularly that linked to Daesh. Authorities gathered evidence from his Telegram channel, where he distributed large amounts of terrorist propaganda and an instruction manual for creating improvised explosive devices.

In addition to promoting his association with Daesh, Yousef had also shared messages openly admitting his identity as a terrorist.

Detective Chief Superintendent Oliver Wright, Head of CTPSE, said: “Yousef professed being a member Daesh, a proscribed terrorist group in the UK, that promotes violence in furtherance of its cause.

“He also made vast quantities of terrorist material available to others, including details of how to make improvised explosive devices and a video glorifying the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers.

“Sharing this content can have the very harmful result of encouraging those vulnerable to radicalisation to adopt a similar extremist mindset and be motivated to engage in terrorist activity.”
