Blunt-force trauma confirmed as cause of death for Bedfordshire mother and children

A post-mortem examination has determined that a mother and her two children, whose bodies were discovered in their Bedfordshire home, died due to blunt-force trauma.

Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, known as Zandile, aged 42, along with her daughters Natalie, 15, and Nala, five, were found deceased in their £1.3 million detached house in Great Denham, near Bedford, on 6th July.

Concerns were raised after the family had not been seen for several days.

Bedfordshire Police announced the findings on Monday, coinciding with Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, suspected of their murder, appearing in court in South Africa.

Tshuma, identified by the name Mark and holding British citizenship, was apprehended in Johannesburg's Kensington area on Friday.

The UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorised three murder charges against the 45-year-old, and efforts are underway to return him to the UK.

Detective Inspector Lee Martin, the senior investigating officer, stated:

“This case has attracted a huge amount of media coverage and we are aware of international reports circulating which contain some speculation about this case."

“With three murder charges authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service, proceedings around this case remain active and we are not able to provide any further detail at this stage."

“We continue to work with the CPS and international partners as the case progresses."

The South African Police Service credited Tshuma's arrest to coordinated operational efforts and intelligence-led policing.

As the case remains ongoing, further details will emerge as international legal proceedings continue.
