Bedfordshire Police charges 10 people as part of crackdown on organised crime
Specialist team Boson targets firearms and drugs offences with over 20 arrests in May
Bedfordshire Police is stepping up its fight against gun, gang and drug crime, with more than twenty arrests made in the past three weeks.
The Boson team, a specialist unit focusing on gun and gang crime, is leading these efforts to disrupt organised crime across the region.
This month, 23 arrests have been made by the team, resulting in 10 charges related to firearms and drug offences.
In addition to these arrests, six firearms, cash totalling around £10,000, and drugs valued at approximately £50,000 have been seized.
Detective Inspector Jon Wheeler said: "We will not tolerate firearms, drugs, or violent behaviour on our streets, and we'll continue to take robust action against those who pose a threat to public safety."
The team has increased their operations over the past few weeks, aligning with Sceptre, the anti-knife crime awareness campaign.
Officers are conducting proactive patrols as a deterrent to criminal activity and to reassure the community.
DI Wheeler highlighted that "support from the public is crucial in helping us tackle firearms and drugs criminality and associated violence. Please tell us about any concerns or information you may have."
The force is encouraging residents to report any suspicious activities to help build a comprehensive intelligence picture for effective action.
Concerns can be reported online via the Bedfordshire Police website, helping ensure community safety.
