A farm in Bedford is appealing for help as they search for a missing bald eagle.

The English School of Falconry says Aspen was 'mobbed by crows and chased out of sight' just before their 2.30pm flying display on Monday (1 June 2026).

They say his telemetry was found in the Water End Cople bridal way area, Cople, Bedford.

English School of Falconry online statement:

"Aspen was also last seen here panicking in flight as he was again being mobbed and chased by crows. It’s a busy area with lots of people, dog walkers and horse-riders enjoying the countryside.

"Aspen is a shy and sensitive lad, scared of dogs and horses so I expect he would have spooked and left the area. He could be close by or further afield.

"Aspen is 18 years old and has never been lost before so I know he will be feeling quite stressed and vulnerable. Despite being a huge bird with a 5.5ft wing span he is absolutely no threat to either people or pets. He will be scared and flee if approached.

"Aspen in flight is unmistakable due to his sheer size. None of our wild birds even come close to his size and while perched his bright white head and tail with yellow/orange beak and feet are prominent and unlike any of our native wildlife.

"Aspen flies daily during our displays and is not a hunting eagle nor native so he won’t do well out on his own for too long."

If you spot Aspen, you are being asked to take a picture of him and contact the English School of Falconry.
