Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Luton which has left three people seriously injured.

The incident happened in Luton town centre in the early hours of Saturday morning (4 April), shortly after 1:45am on Manchester Street.

A silver Vauxhall Astra was involved in a collision with a large wooden planter in the pedestrianised area which subsequently caused injury to the three men.

One man's injuries are described to be potentially life-changing.

Two men fled the vehicle and left the scene.

A 19-year-old man has since been arrested and charged with several driving offences and was remanded into custody before appearing in court yesterday (Tuesday 7 April).

Sergeant Dan Cook, from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said, “This was a dreadful incident which has left one man with potentially life-changing injuries and two others seriously injured."

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward in order to support their investigation.
