Police target anti-social vehicle use in Hemel Hempstead
Officers conducted patrols across areas where people have reported dangerous and anti-social use of e-bikes, motorcycles and cars
Hertfordshire Police say it's carried out a three-day operation in Hemel Hempstead to target illegal and anti-social vehicle use.
Between Thursday and Saturday, officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) conducted patrols across areas where people have reported dangerous and anti-social use of e-bikes, motorcycles and cars, including Coronation Fields and Bourne End.
The patrols resulted in:
- A suspected stolen vehicle recovered
- Two people arrested for drink driving
- One person arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A
- Two section 59 warning notices issued for anti-social riding.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Roger Akhtar said: “Riding or driving in this manner is extremely dangerous, putting innocent members of the public and the drivers themselves at risk of serious or even fatal injury.
“We know the illegal and anti-social use of vehicles is a significant concern for residents and I want to reassure the community that we are listening and taking action.
“Throughout this operation, officers carried out targeted patrols in known hotspot locations, acting on intelligence and reports from the public. This activity often goes hand in hand with wider criminality, and we remain committed to identifying those responsible and taking robust enforcement action.
“Our message is clear. If you are using a vehicle illegally, dangerously, or causing distress to the community, you can expect to be targeted by police. We will continue to carry out proactive operations, seize vehicles and take action against those who break the law.
“We would also encourage residents to continue reporting concerns to us, as the information they provide plays a vital role in helping us identify offenders and direct our patrols to the areas where they are needed most.”
