Woman arrested following fatal A505 motorcycle collision

A woman in her 30s has been arrested in connection with a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a car on the A505 near Royston.

The crash occurred at around 11.30pm on Friday (21st November), near the junction with Cat Ditch Road. Both the rider and pillion passenger of the motorcycle sadly died at the scene.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs and driving while unfit through drink or drugs. She has since been released on conditional bail as police inquiries continue.

Sergeant Luke Jenkins, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, commented on the ongoing investigation.

“Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this difficult time.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this collision, and I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to please get in touch.

“If you saw the collision or saw either of the vehicles travelling in the area prior to it, please get in contact with us.

“If you were driving in the area around the time specified and have a dash cam fitted to your vehicle, please review the footage and upload anything that you believe could assist with our investigation.”
