A second man is facing charges following the investigation into three reported absconders from HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire.

Daniel Washbourne, a 40-year-old, was arrested in Bristol during the early hours of 7th January.

He has been remanded to appear at Bristol Magistrates’ Court today, 8th January.

This comes after another man, aged 39, was arrested over the weekend and has already been charged and appeared in court earlier this week.

The third man, Matthew Armstrong, a 35-year-old, was arrested near Henley-in-Arden train station by Warwickshire Police yesterday.

He has been transported to the Avon and Somerset area and remains in police custody.

The investigation concerns the alleged absconding of three people from the South Gloucestershire prison on New Year’s Day.
