Rare albino joey born at The Little Zoo

Keepers say it now needs a name

An unusual albino joey has been born at The Little Zoo, charming staff and visitors alike with its distinctive white fur.

Although white wallabies can be spotted elsewhere, this is the first albino joey to be born within the zoo’s group.

Albinism is a rare genetic condition and occurs when both parents carry the recessive gene, despite being normal-coloured themselves.

With its fur now starting to grow beautifully white, visitors are invited to contribute neutral name suggestions for the joey, whose gender remains uncertain at this time.

Mum is reportedly doing well, and the joey is happily growing while remaining safely in the pouch.

Visitors eager to offer name ideas can do so by adding their suggestions in the zoo’s online comments section.
