Nathan Bennett, a 30-year-old nursery worker from Corston, Bath, has been sentenced to 24 years in prison after being convicted of multiple sexual offences against children.
Bennett was found guilty of eight charges, including rape, sexual assault, and assault by penetration, involving five children aged two or three at the Partou King Street nursery in Bristol.
He had previously admitted to 13 other charges related to four of the five children, including sexual assault and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
Families involved in the case have expressed shock and anger over the abuse committed by someone they trusted.
Through law firm Leigh Day, they released a statement demanding answers on how Bennett was able to commit his crimes and how the nursery's safeguarding systems failed.
Background of the Case
Concerns about Bennett's behavior were initially raised by parents and staff in February 2025.
CCTV footage viewed by nursery manager Victoria Tutton led to Bennett being sent home, prompting an investigation by Avon and Somerset Police and the subsequent closure of the nursery.
During the trial, disturbing evidence was presented, including video interviews with children involved and testimony from parents describing the abuse their children suffered.
Bennett, who began working at the nursery in July 2024, claimed he was emulating actions done to him as a child.
However, the jury did not accept his defense, convicting him of serious crimes against young children.
