Residents invited to comment on proposed parking charge changes in Bath
Consultation focuses on improving sustainability and road safety
Bath & North East Somerset Council is asking residents to share their views on a series of proposed changes to parking charges as part of an initiative aimed at enhancing road safety, improving air quality, and reducing congestion.
The proposed revisions are designed to encourage visitors travelling by car to consider more sustainable travel options and assist residents parking near their homes.
These changes include adjustments to emissions-based charges, increases over three years for on-street pay and display parking, and extending operating hours for Residents' Parking Zones in Bath until 10 pm.
Councillor Joel Hirst, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Transport Strategy, emphasised the importance of cleaner, safer, and more sustainable transport, aligning with priorities expressed by residents.
Feedback from the consultation, which remains open until 5 pm on 3rd November, will inform council decisions and potential implementation of proposals in 2027/28.
Prior consultations have influenced decision-making, leading to withdrawn proposals such as extending Saturday parking charges at Bath Hill East car park in Keynsham.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the consultation through the council's consultation page.
