The sister of a man who plunged to his death from a block of flats in Aberdeen says a Fatal Accident Inquiry must deliver answers into why emergency services failed to help him.

Jamie Forbes died on the 15th of January 2024 after being held in a flat at Elphinstone Court where he was subjected to numerous assaults and prevented from leaving.

Despite multiple calls to the emergency services following concerns for a man who was yelling for help, Police officers who attended the block of flats failed to find Jamie.

Jamie was found naked on the ground outside the flats the following morning after falling from the 12th storey of a block of, he was 37-years-old when he died.

Now, a Fatal Accident Inquiry into his death will start, with a preliminary hearing set for the 7th of October.

Lyndsay-Anne Forbes, Jamie’s youngest sister has been campaigning for an FAI since his death last year.

She said: “We need answers into why no one came to help Jamie despite there being multiple calls to the emergency services by members of the public.

“Why didn’t the Police find him? Why didn’t they follow up on the calls from the public?

“Jamie did everything we’re all told we should do - shouting for help and trying to draw attention to himself.

“I’m haunted thinking about how scared he must have been in that flat and how he must have felt when he realised no one was coming to save him.

“Jamie was kind and gentle and he didn’t deserve for this to happen to him.

“I would give anything to not be in this position and to have my big brother back, he always tried to protect me as my big brother now it’s my turn to look out for him and to make sure he didn’t die for nothing.

“I want there to be change or a new law put in place, called Jamie’s Law which will make sure no other family has to go through what I have gone through.
