Three women seriously injured after crash near Toll of Birness

Three women have been seriously injured following a crash on the A952 near Toll of Birness in Aberdeenshire.

The collision, which involved a blue Volkswagen T-roc and a white Suzuki Ignis, occurred earlier today at around 1.05pm.

All three women, aged 81, 51 and 20, were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The road has been closed for several hours today while investigations were carried out.

Police appeal for information

Sergeant Sarah Ritchie from the North East Road Policing Unit said: "Enquiries are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.

“We’d also ask anyone who may have dashcam footage of the road at the time to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2238 of Thursday, 1 January, 2026.

Meanwhile, multiple snow gates have been closed due to the snowy conditions.

This includes the A939 at Tomintoul and the A93 at Braemar.
