Police are investigating an unlicensed music event that drew hundreds of partygoers to the woods near Weldon.

Northamptonshire Police were called to the scene at 11.30pm on Saturday, 6th June, after receiving reports of the illegal gathering.

Upon arrival, officers encountered several hundred people on-site.

Due to the large number of attendees already present, the force decided against attempting to clear the area at that time, citing safety concerns.

Instead, they imposed a road closure to prevent further access to the location.

A spokesperson from Northamptonshire Police said: “We appreciate the frustration this event has caused to local communities and are working to shut it down, identify those responsible and to prosecute them.

“Several hundred people were on the site when officers attended and with the resources available to us at that point it was not possible to safely remove people during the hours of darkness, so we took measures to close the site off to anyone else arriving.

“A police presence remains at the scene this morning and an investigation is underway to establish who has attended the event and what criminal offences have been committed.”

Residents with information relevant to the investigation are encouraged to contact Northamptonshire Police, quoting incident number 26000330390.
