A driver has been arrested after a van crashed into five properties in the village of Kessingland.
Suffolk Police say the collision happened just after 11:30pm last night (Wednesday 11th March 2026), when a van veered off the road and collided with a lamp post and several buildings.
Five buildings suffered damage, prompting the evacuation of residents due to a gas leak caused by the crash.
A teenage boy, inside one of the affected properties, sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics.
Members of the public reported that the occupants of the vehicle had then left the scene but officers located the driver a short distance away.
A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and failing to stop or report an accident.
He was taken to hospital for assessment before being transported to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.
