Man arrested in Chelmsford attempted murder investigation

Police are seeking information following an incident off Regina Road

A 54-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a serious incident in Chelmsford.

The disturbance occurred in an area off Regina Road shortly after 4:30pm on Saturday, 6th June.

Upon arrival, police discovered a woman with serious injuries requiring immediate medical attention, and she was swiftly taken to hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

Police have confirmed that her loved ones are currently being supported.

Following a quick search of the area, police detained the man and initially took him to hospital for medical treatment.

He has since been discharged and is currently in police custody.

There was a noticeable police presence in the area throughout Saturday evening as officers continued their investigation.

Investigation Update

Detective Inspector Luke Howard, who is leading the investigation, stated: “We received a number of calls from members of the public and we’re continuing to build a full picture of the circumstances around the incident.

“We know this incident took place in a relatively public setting and we’d like to thank the people who have come forward to provide witness accounts.

“Whilst this serious incident is less than 24 hours old, we know it involved people known to each other and there was no threat to the wider public.”
