A village in Lancashire has been shaken by its second earthquake in under a month.
The British Geological Survey (British Geological Survey) confirmed that a 2.2 magnitude earthquake struck Silverdale on Saturday evening, June 6, at 9:35pm.
Although relatively minor in strength, the tremor was widely felt across the local area, with people reporting a sharp “thud."
The shaking was not limited to Silverdale itself, with reports coming in from surrounding communities including Grange-over-Sands and Bolton-le-Sands, where residents also felt the sudden impact.
This latest event marks the third recorded earthquake in the area in recent months. The region experienced a 2.3 magnitude quake on May 13, following an even smaller 0.4 magnitude tremor on April 12.
Seismic activity has been unusually frequent in the wider area since late 2025, with multiple minor earthquakes recorded in December, followed by additional tremors throughout February and March of this year.
While none of the events have been considered strong, the repeated shaking has left many residents increasingly aware of the ground activity beneath their homes.
