Eight-year-old among four injured in Christmas Eve collision in Croxteth

An eight-year-old boy is among four people hurt after two cars collided in Croxteth.

It happened on the East Lancashire Road at its junction with Stonebridge Lane at around 8.39pm on Christmas Eve evening, Wednesday, 24 December.

Two cars - a grey car and a Ford Puma - were involved.

The male driver of the grey car, who has suffered serious injuries, has been taken to hospital where he is being treated.

The male driver, female front seat passenger and an eight-year-old boy who were in the Puma have also been taken to hospital to be treated. The driver's condition is described as serious, the woman and the eight-year-old boy have suffered injuries that aren't believed to be serious.

An investigation is underway and forensic examinations are taking place at the scene.

The East Lancashire Road has been closed between with Stonebridge Lane and Lower House Lane - traffic diversions have been put in place and motorists are advised to find alternative routes.
