Police are appealing for witnesses after a young boy was seriously injured when his bicycle was involved in a collision with a car in Boston on Saturday evening (6 June).

The incident occurred at around 7.23pm at a four-way junction in Haven village.

The boy, who is of primary school age, was riding his bicycle along Longview Terrace when he was struck by a silver Volkswagen Golf travelling from Sutton Terrace towards Melbourne Terrace.

Emergency services attended the scene and the child was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Fortunately, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene following the collision. However, officers later located the car and stopped the driver in Norfolk at approximately 8.30pm.

A 27-year-old man from Boston was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after a collision, dangerous driving causing serious injury, and drug driving. He has since also been arrested on suspicion of driving without a full licence and driving without insurance.

The man remains in police custody while investigations continue.

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, has dashcam footage of the incident, or holds information that may assist the investigation to come forward and contact police.
