A seven-figure settlement has been agreed for more than 20 legal claims of historical abuse at Celtic Boys Club.

Thompsons Solicitors say around 70 per-cent of claims have now been settled with a small number still in discussions.

Legal action was launched under new Scottish legislation allowing a US-style ā€œclass actionā€ lawsuit in 2023.

Celtic have previously claimed Celtic Boys Club was ā€œentirely separateā€ entity that they were not responsible for, but a club statement following the lawsuit said they would look to settle the cases.

Laura Connor, partner at Thompsons Solicitors, said: ā€œOur clients trusted us to fight for them on these difficult cases and ensure their voices were heard.

ā€œThis litigation has been made far more complex and lengthy by the defender, while our clients have acted with resolute dignity throughout.

ā€œAt long last they have achieved success and can take this compensation as confirmation that Celtic Boys’ Club was indeed inextricably linked to Celtic Football Clubā€.
