Man arrested following fatal assault in New Marske alleyway

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a violent assault in New Marske that resulted in the death of a man.

Police were called by ambulance service colleagues to an alleyway between Dale Street and Arthur Terrace just after 8pm on Friday 6th March 2026, where they found a man with serious injuries.

Despite efforts by emergency services, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene just over an hour later.

Investigation and community reassurance

Authorities have informed the man’s next of kin, extending their sympathies at this challenging time.

Extensive enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the man's death are ongoing, with formal identification yet to take place.

The police believe the incident to be isolated and targeted, aiming to reassure the local community. Officers remain in the area conducting enquiries and providing support to residents.
