Work on an Ozzy Osbourne movie biopic is progressing “full steam ahead” and it’s likely to be released in 2028.

Taking part in a livestream Q&A on his YouTube channel on Tuesday 12th May 2026, Jack Osbourne was asked if there were any updates on the long-gestating film.

"I can tell you this: we are moving ahead. I was on calls today about it. The script is right there. We are good. This movie will absolutely happen,” Jack said.

“Realistically… I mean, look, we're already halfway through '26, it probably won't come out until '28. But you never know. But, yeah, we're full steam ahead.

“We're about to start going out and getting a director attached. So, fingers crossed. I'm really excited. It's, yeah, very much been a labour of love, of course. But, yeah, I'm excited. I'm excited for everyone to see this film."

Back in January, Jack Osbourne told his dad’s best friend Billy Morrison that they have an actor locked in to play Ozzy: "We have our decided pick, and I can't say anything, but it's a phenomenal, phenomenal actor. We have a director attached, and we're doing a rewrite right now."

When Billy Morrison said Ozzy would have “got a kick out of” a movie being made about his life, Jack responded: "Oh, he would. And all he kept saying — I'd give him updates: 'Oh, we met with this guy', and 'this is happening'. And he just would go, 'I don't give a s---. Just tell me when it's out so I can go see it.'"

Ozzy Osbourne sat on his bat throne

Speaking backstage at Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s Back to the Beginning concert in July 2025, Jack Osbourne said of the film: “It's going to be raw. We are not pulling any punches, we are really laying it all out."

Jack continued at the time: "The director is absolutely phenomenal. I can't say who he is, but we are very lucky to have him and he is a die-hard fan.

"If the evil overlords of Hollywood give us the green light, we could be filming in the spring, so maybe it will be out by the summer of 2027."

It’s unclear whether this Ozzy biopic is a different movie to the one Sharon Osbourne has been teasing since 2021, or whether it's a revised version.

Sharon told Variety at the time that the movie will focus on her relationship with Ozzy over a 20-year period.

"It starts the day we meet and will focus on how our lives were totally different but very similar in ways: I was brought up by a powerful, successful father (Black Sabbath, ELO and Small Faces manager Don Arden) and Ozzy was brought up extremely poor and somewhat abused,” Sharon said.

"It's definitely going to be a tearjerker. It's not going to be a sex-and-drugs movie at all. Ozzy is so much more than that. I would hate to be a cliché."
