The Who frontman Roger Daltrey has been knighted by the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle this morning (Wednesday 10th December).
The 81-year-old rock legend was made a Knight Bachelor for his services to music and charity.
As co-founder and lead vocalist of The Who and as a solo artist, Roger Daltrey has sold more than 100 million records worldwide.
Outside of his day job, Daltrey was pivotal in starting the Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall concert series in 2000.
The Who performed numerous times at the concerts over the decades, and Daltrey was the event’s ambassador until 2024 when he became an Honorary Patron.
The TCT concerts have raised more than £32 million for charity and have led to the setting up of 28 specialised units within the NHS.
When it was announced he was becoming a Knight Bachelor in the King’s Birthday Honours back in June, Daltrey said he was “deeply honoured” and he was accepting the knighthood "on behalf of all those unsung people who had worked to make the (Teenage Cancer Trust) charity the success it had become".
Who else has been honoured today?
Also among the personalities to be honoured on Wednesday are professional darts player Luke Humphries and Bridgerton actress Adjoa Andoh.
Humphries, 30, claimed his first World Championship in January 2024 after beating then 16-year-old Luke Littler in the final.
The sportsman was ranked number one for nearly two years until November, when he was overtaken by Littler.
Humphries, who has won eight major titles, was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to darts.
Andoh is a stage and screen actress, most known for playing Lady Agatha Danbury in Netflix series Bridgerton.
The 62-year-old has also appeared in BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who and in episodes of medical drama Casualty, and in CBBC children’s spy show MI High, among others.
