Train services on the Midland Main Line near Bedford will start again this Monday after recovery work was completed following a fatal train crash.
A train driver was killed and around 100 people were injured during the collision on Friday 19 June when the 4.40pm departure from Corby to London St Pancras hit the rear of the 3.50pm departure from Nottingham to the same destination.
Network Rail has wrapped up repair efforts, which involved removing damaged equipment and lifting trains with cranes after the tragic collision.
While engineers have inspected and repaired the tracks and lines, train services will resume fully on 29th June.
During this weekend, planned engineering work will mean rail replacement buses are available between Bedford and Luton, and at other points along the line.
Passengers should check the EMR and Thameslink websites for the latest updates on services.
Today, a Met Office red weather warning is in place as extreme temperatures hit much of England, including routes served by the Midland Main Line.
These high temperatures may cause disruption to train schedules, as tracks and overhead wires can become affected.
Journeys might be slower or cancelled.
We're told to travel only if absolutely necessary and bring water, wear light clothing, and allow extra time for any travel plans.
Tickets meant for today can be used up to Tuesday, 30th June, or a full refund can be requested.
Mark Budden from Network Rail acknowledged the difficulty of the recovery work after the crash and thanked engineers for their dedication.
East Midlands Railway's Will Rogers also expressed sympathy for those affected and thanked customers for their patience during the disruptions.
Louis Rambaud from Thameslink praised the industry's efforts and advised caution with today's heat warnings, asking people to stay home unless travel is essential.
