Irish Premiership: League leaders Linfield secure Morrison deal

Sports Direct Premiership leaders Linfield have announced the signing of Scottish winger Callumn Morrison from Falkirk.

The 25-year-old moves to Windsor Park on a two-and-a-half-year deal, ha ing been named PFA Scotland Player of the Year last season as he finished top scorer in the division as Falkirk secured promotion to the Championship.

A product of the Heart of Midlothian academy, he made 30 first-team appearances for Hearts before moving to Falkirk, where he made over 150 appearances, scoring 64 goals.

Blues boss David Healy told the Linfield FC website: “It’s no secret that Callumn is a player we have admired and attempted to sign for some time, and we are thrilled to bring him to Linfield. His pace, creativity and goalscoring ability will add another dimension to our attacking options and adds more vital title-winning experience to our ranks.

"Callumn could easily have stayed in Scotland, with there being interest from Premiership clubs, but has made it clear that he wanted to come to Linfield and build on his ambition to win trophies. I believe he will be a fantastic addition to our squad as we push for further success."

Linfield currently lead the race for the Gibson Cup by 19 points from rivals Glentoran, wo have two games in hand.

Reigning champions Larne are 24 points drift of Healy's side as they play catch-up following their UEFA Europa Conference League experience and have six games in hand on the table toppers.
