Football: Nancy sacked as Celtic boss
Last updated 5th Jan 2026
Celtic have sacked manager Wilfried Nancy after just eight games in charge.
He lost six of those matches, with the run including defeats in the Scottish League Cup final to St Mirren and to Rangers in the Old Firm derby at the weekend.
His three assistants will also leave the club, while Head of Football Operations Paul Tisdale has also been sacked.
There's yet to be an announcement on who will take over.
A statement on the Celtic webstie said: "Celtic Football Club today announces that it has decided to terminate the contract of manager Wilfried Nancy, with immediate effect.
"The Club thanks Wilfried for his efforts and wishes him and his family well for the future.
"Wilfried's assistants, Kwame Ampadu, Jules Gueguen, and Maxime Chalier, will also be leaving the club and they take with them our good wishes.
"The Club can also confirm that Paul Tisdale has left his position as Head of Football Operations. We thank Paul for the contribution he has made in that role.
"A further update will be provided to supporters as soon as is practical."
Saturday's 3-1 Scottish Premiership defeat at home to Glasgow rivals Rangers proved to be the Frenchman's final game in his 33 days in charge.
